Well not really! Just a chance to orienteer 6 times in 8 days within an hour’s drive Penrith.
LOC are holding their annual Turkey Races on 26th, 28th and 30th of December. The first venue is parkland with intricate boathouses while the other two are runnable woodland with intricate contours.
Then there is BL’s own Christmas offering on 27th at Binsey – a 45 minute score event on the most runnable part of Binsey with an option (but only if you like such things) to earn bonus points using fiendish route planning (and doing lots of extra climb). The other bonus, which everyone will like, is soup and mince pies afterward. (Details here)

On New Year’s Day, the venue is Lancaster University where SROC are putting on a mass start score event with 60 minute and 30 minute options. You might think that it would be easy to cover the whole campus (2km by 0.75km) in an hour, but there are 60 controls, and a two-sided map which you can only turn over once to make you run further.
Finally on 2nd January (unless you have to go work) there is SOLWAY’s annual Mabie Knoll Bagging near Dumfries – another mass start score event, but with all the controls on hills and knolls (and there are enough of them to make the event different every year)
