This is event 1 in the 2022 Cumbrian Galoppen ‘league’. These are a series of events held throughout the year by the three main Cumbrian clubs, Border Liners (BL), West Cumberland (WCOC) and Lakeland (LOC). The events tend to be on the better orienteering areas and have a full range of colour-coded courses. Somehow, somewhere, someone sorts out a points system, so at the end of the season there is a male and female winner of each colour-coded* course, based on their best five scores. Why Galoppen? Orienteering came to the UK from Scandinavia, and in the early days we borrowed a lot of Scandi words.
