Saturday morning event on classic Lakes fell terrain above Dockray. Courses are Green (4.2km), Short Green (3.1km) with Very Short Green cut-off option, Orange (approx 2.1k) & Yellow (approx 1.8km).
NOTE: All courses will have something approaching 2km walk to and from the start/finish area along a minor road then a footpath by the side of the A5091 Dockray road.
**Don’t be put off by the walk to the start** For those unable, unwilling, too young and too old to cope with 2km to the start and back – a BL volunteer has offered to run a taxi service from the car park to Dockray from about 10.30 to picnic time.
If you need to use this offer please make yourself known at the entrance to the car park when you arrive.
This is another BL popular picnic event, details below!

Directions: If approaching from Dockray, drive north on the A5091 and take the right hand turn onto a minor road signposted for Ulcat Row at Thornythwaite church. The parking field is approximately 500m up this minor road on the right.
If approaching from the A66 at Troutbeck, take the A5091 through Matterdale End and turn VERY sharp left at Thornythwaite church. Please take care if approaching from this direction. The parking field is approximately 500m up this minor road on the right.
For those who can’t face the long walk to the start – juniors and oldies – there is a suitable drop off point very close to the start. Strictly NO PARKING. Please do not leave cars there. From the car park field drive south on A5091 to Dockray. On the left, immediately after the bridge is a small parking and picnic area. GR NY3932 2156. Using the drop off will require some advance planning as we don’t especially want lots of traffic in and out of the parking field on multiple occasions.
Registration, download, toilets: In parking field.

Water for emergency use will be available at the finish.
- There are cliffs and crags on the area, the rock can be very slippery when wet. There may be streams to cross. At the time of writing, the streams are very full.
- There are some grazing animals, sheep and possibly cattle on the course and enroute to the start. If cattle are present, please run around them. Do not run directly at them.
