Swindale North – Saturday 2nd September

Updates:
31/08/2023 – Final details

Four headline final details:
– There will be a charge of £2 per car for car parking. Please have cash ready to pay as you approach the parking area.
– Registration: you will need to report to registration before your run, and collect your map from registration. Maps will be folded, open your map as you start.
– One particular marsh on the area is very wet at the moment, making it difficult to cross over most of its length. Courses are planned such that no-one should feel tempted to cross this marsh, and this marsh is marked as out of bounds on the competition maps.
– Green and Blue courses pass beyond a fence that runs across the area. The fence is marked as “forbidden to cross” on the competition maps, and it should only be crossed at marked crossing points.

Terrain: Open fell with contour detail. Moderately good underfoot with a mixture of rough grass, heather, bracken and significant marshland. The bracken is approximately mapped with a green vertical line screen. There are no steep or rocky slopes on the shorter courses

Map: 1:10000 (for Blue, Green courses) or 1:7500 (for Short Green, Very Short Green and Yellow courses). Please note rough open land on the map is shown in white rather than the IOF standard pale yellow. Almost the whole map is mapped as rough open land (white).

Parking: on fell adjacent to road
