Border Liners Orienteering Club held their first event of the year on Saturday 3rd January at Whittas Park near Bassenthwaite. As always this was independently organised by Raymond Wren with all entry fees going to charity. This year’s beneficiary was “Terminalhilless”, Ian Teasdale’s fundraising campaign in aid of Maggie’s cancer care. The weather was bright and sunny but very cold, with the hard frozen ground making for fast going, even if it was somewhat uncomfortable on the feet. It was also the last event in the North West Urban League for 2025. The event proved to be a great finale to a year during which BL has held 18 events throughout north east Cumbria. Ranging from parks in Carlisle to steep wooded valleys, to high mountain terrain, at day and (occasionally) at night, with participants aged 3 to 93 and with winning times from 9 minutes to 135…
