Junior Competition – 7th October 2023

Orienteering competition for Juniors at Talkin Tarn on the morning of Saturday 7th October 2023. Come and test your map reading skills at our new orienteering competition. You may even win a medal.**

This event is aimed at novice juniors. The course will be Yellow standard (almost all paths & few decision points) and approximately 2km in length. The competition is open to Juniors in age categories KS2 and KS3 and to Units of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Entries: Group entry is via a Microsoft Online form. It is important you complete the online form to register your scouting and guiding group as soon as possible to ensure you are entered.  The closing date for group entries is Tuesday 3rd October. You will be asked to give provisional numbers then confirm actual numbers by no later than the end of Wednesday 4th October (in order to ensure we print the correct number of maps for your group). Individual Junior entry in classes KS2 & KS3 are open via the SiEntries online system until Wednesday 4th October.

Start times: From 10:30 until 11:45, with medals & prize giving at 13:00.

** Medals will only be awarded to BL members or juniors in and around the Brampton, Carlisle or Penrith area.  This is part of our strategy for encouraging local participation.

Talkin Tarn near Brampton is one of Border Liners permanent orienteering courses, with further details of this to be found here. It is also home to a Parkrun which takes place on Saturday mornings at 09:00.
