Travel and Parking
The car park and event centre are in a field at High Row, 1.5km west of Dockray. There will be no road signs, except at the field entrance. There will also be a BL feather flag at the entrance.
Car parking fee is £2 per vehicle.
Dogs are permitted in the car park field, but must be kept on leads and please clean up any dog poo. Dogs are not permitted on courses.
Toilets
There will be a portaloo in the car parking field.
Terrain and Map
Open fell with variable runability and some marshy sections that can be hard going particularly after wet weather. It is mostly grassy but with patches of heather and tussocks. There are sections of rock and contour detail. An old map of the area can be seen here.
Open fell is shown on the map as white, rather than the standard yellow. There are some vague paths formed by quad bikes and animals. In general, they are not mapped. Some mapped paths can be hard to spot when crossed.
The map shows a lot of embankments (mostly peat hags) – these are less obvious than they used to be.
Note the following symbols:

Registration and Map Collection
When you are ready to start, go to registration (near the car park entrance) to collect your map. If you need to hire an SI card, collect this here too. If you have travelled alone you will be asked for your car registration for safety.
Start
The start is about 500m from the car park entrance, mostly along a flat track – follow tapes. The start will not be manned.
Start times are 10:00 to 12:00. Start time slots have not been allocated so start whenever you want, but make sure it’s early enough to get back before courses close at 15:30. Those on the Long and Medium are strongly advised to start before 11:00.
If you are running as a pair, make sure both of you dib the start.
Finish and Download
The finish is about 100m from the car park field. Download is in the same place as Registration. If you want to appear in the results as a pair, let us know when you download.
