Hallin Fell – Saturday 26th April 2025

Final Details

(Updated 25/5 – even more tempting catering!)

Level D local orienteering event at Hallin Fell, on the east side of Ullswater.

Pre-entry now closed. Entry on the day available for Yellow and Orange. For late entries on other courses please contact BLdanandkaren@gmail.com in advance.

Parking
Field at Winter Crag Farm, Martindale (note this is a different place from previous events).
Grid Ref: NY 432 182
W3W: ///paintings.shovels.marriage
Postcode: CA10 2NF (but this covers quite a large area)

Directions: From Pooley Bridge, take the road along the east side of Ullswater signed to Howtown and Martindale. After around 4 miles the road goes steeply up a series of zig-zags to a col. Around 200m beyond the col fork left at a junction and continue a further 900m to the car park field on the left, just beyond a bridge. There will not be any road signs, but you will see the Border Liners feather flag in the field.

The field is not as flat or smooth as we’d like so is unsuitable for large vehicles, or cars with particularly poor clearance. We can’t offer an official alternative so you will need to find somewhere for yourself. But please be aware that since Covid, the local residents have become increasingly intolerant of insensitive parking.
There is plenty of parking in Pooley Bridge so maybe consider car sharing for the last part of the journey. Or perhaps get the the Ullswater Steamer to the jetty at Howtown.

Parking Fee is £2. Please have the correct change
