Parking: In the Golf Club Car Park – please drive very slowly and use the passing places to give way to other vehicles on the single-track drive. We will direct or sign you to park on the left side of the car park.
Registration: The desk for registration and enquiries is inside the golf club. Please remove spiked and muddy shoes to enter. Registration is in a room beyond the bar, the golf club staff will direct you when you reach the bar.
You need to visit registration only if you have not pre-entered or if you need to hire a dibber. If you have pre-entered with your own dibber number you can go directly to the start.
Everyone who starts, must return to the golf club to download (even if you do not finish).
Punching: SI with SIAC enabled, you still need to punch the start and the finish
Facilities: Please use the toilets near the bar in the golf club. When you go to download, do make the most of the opportunity to make this a more sociable occasion by enjoying a hot drink and/or food in the bar afterwards, the staff are looking forward to welcoming us..
Start: There is a 500m walk from the car park to the start. To reach the start go back to the road, cross it carefully and follow the tapes to the start. Look out for golf balls as you will cross the fairway.
Kit may be left near the start at your own risk and collected on the way back from the finish.

Terrain: Penrith Beacon is a well thinned pine woodland with a heather and bilberry understory set on a moderate slope above the town. Although the bracken has died back there is still a little gorse and some brambles. Full leg cover is recommended.

**Very Short Green – this is mostly the same course as Short Green with fewer controls to visit. If you want to do Very Short Green, enter Short Green. The map will show both and you can decide while on the course which to complete.
Entries: Pre-entry only except for Novice course where there will be some entry on the day, subject to map availability. Entries are now open on SiEntries and will close at 23:59 on Wednesday 15th January Seniors (21 and over): £7 (£8 for entry on the day)
Juniors (20 and under) and full-time Students: £3
If you are new to orienteering and would like to go round as a group or in a pair, just enter one person and purchase any additional maps that your group would like at £1 each.
Dibber hire by pre-order at no charge, £30 if not returned. To pre-order, leave the SI number blank during entry process, collect from Download on the day.
If you are unable to make the event, please let us know via the email address. If we are informed by the closing date, we will provide a refund less £1 per person to cover admin costs. Before the closing date you can change your course by editing your entry online, but there will be no changes of course on the day.
Please note that as a condition of access we are required to postpone the event should high winds be forecast. In this case you would be informed by email and be offered a transfer to a new date or a full refund.
The area is popular with dog walkers and other members of the public, please be courteous to them.
No dogs on courses.
First Aid: a first aid sack will be located at the finish on a do it your-self basis. There will be a first-aider at download.
