Terrain
Coombs Wood is a small area of working forest in the Lower Eden Valley. It is a steep valley side, with some flat areas at the top and bottom. Note that the extreme winds in the last few years have caused considerable tree falls; there are also many brambles in the open areas.

Please treat most white areas on the map as ‘slow running’.

Please keep clear of the ‘out of bounds’ areas on the map. There are a number of cliffs, steep hills, and a fast-flowing river – please take care.

Coombs Wood is frequently used by Mountain Bikers- please be alert.

Toilets
There will be one Portaloo

Shorts are allowed, but very strongly not recommended except for the yellow route (on paths). Cagoules may be compulsory.
