Welcome to the 6th Annual BL Long-O
As always there are courses for everyone from experienced orienteers to fell runners new to the sport and from youngsters to oldies. And of course the usual cakes will be available afterwards!
Drybarrows Farm, Bampton – 15km S of Penrith and 8km W of Shap
GR: NY501171 (Streetmap,OS)
W3W: drift.disco.flame

Venue: Burnbanks and Wether Hill. The car park and event centre are in a field at Drybarrows Farm, 2km SE of Bampton.
The closest postcode is CA10 2RA BUT this postcode will direct you approx. 1km from the event location up a private farm drive – please avoid this, follow event signs and not your satnav.
The Start and Finish will be within 800m of the car park.
Terrain: The area is made up of the western part of Burnbanks (old map here) and also a new area covering Wether Hill, Raven Crag and Measand End. The area is all open fell with generally good runability. It is mostly grassy but with patches of heather and tussocks. There is some bracken, particularly on Burnbanks, but it is mapped and can be avoided.
Courses:
· Long 17.0 km, 820 m climb
· Medium 13.5 km, 650 m climb
· Short 7.4 km, 335 m climb
· Very Short 5.1 km, 255 m climb
· Super Short 2.9 km, 155 m climb
Courses, especially the longer ones, will be planned with the emphasis on route choice rather than fine navigation, so will suit less experienced orienteers as well as regulars. You can see last year’s courses here.
Map Scales: 1:15,000 for Long, 1:12500 for Medium, 1:10,000 for Short, 1:7500 for Very Short and Super Short. The area has been recently re-mapped using Lidar Data.

Seniors (21 and over): £11
Juniors (20 and under) and full time students: £5.
