Venue
Burnbanks and Wether Hill. The car park and event centre are in a field at Drybarrows Farm, 2km SW of Bampton.
The closest postcode is CA10 2RA BUT this postcode will direct you approx. 1km from the event location up a private farm drive – please avoid this, follow travel instructions and event signs and not your satnav.

Travel
The event will be signed from the crossroads at GR NY516274, w3w ///merit.look.aliens. This is 800m south of Bampton and 700m SW of Bampton Grange. From here take the road heading west, uphill for 1.6km to reach the car park. Ignore any side roads. There have been roadworks in Bampton this week, but they should be finished by now. However the “Road Closed” signs may not have been removed – just take no notice!

Times
Registration open from 9:15 to 11:45
Start Times (choose your own) from 10:00 to 12:00. If you expect to be out a long time try to start before 11:00
Courses Close 15:30. Please make sure to finish, or retire, by this time or we will start to get worried.

Registration and Map Collection
When you are ready to start, go to registration (in the car park ) to collect your map. It will be rolled up and sealed. Don’t open it until you are at the start (but we don’t mind if you want to take a few minutes to look before dibbing the start box) .
If you need to hire an SI card, collect this at registration too. If you have travelled alone you will be asked for your car registration for safety.
You can leave car keys at registration

Start
Located about 500m from registration and the route will be taped. If you are running as a pair, make sure both of you dib the start.

Finish and Download
The Finish is located close to the Start, about 500m from registration. Follow tapes back to Download (same place as registration). If you want to appear in the results as a pair, let us know when you download.

Toilets
There will be a portaloo in the car parking field.

Terrain
The area is made up of the western part of Burnbanks (old map here) and also a new area covering Wether Hill, Raven Crag and Measand End. The area is all open fell with generally good runability. It is mostly grassy but with patches of heather and tussocks. There is some bracken, particularly on Burnbanks, but it is mapped and can be avoided.

Shorts are permitted
Long, Medium: Cagoules and whistles are compulsory. If the weather is bad (unlikely), waterproof trousers plus hat and gloves will also be compulsory – make sure you bring them just in case.
Short, Very Short, Super Short: Cagoules will be compulsory only in bad weather (unlikely). A notice at registration will let you know if the weather is “officially” bad.
Sheep and deer roam the area so please check for ticks after running.
