Brampton Urban Event

Sunday 19th July 2026

A Regional event and part of the North West Urban league. The courses cover the shopping area as well as housing and small areas of parkland.


Event Centre and Facilities
The event centre will be based in Brampton Community Centre, Union Lane, Brampton. CA8 1BX, where we have a large function room with toilet facilities, this will be open from 10.00am. The entry to the event centre will be through the main entrance and turn right into the Gelt Room.  Clothing and bags etc. can be left here and this is where download will be situated. There is a hot drinks machine in the foyer.  No dogs in the event centre. Please remove dirty/ wet shoes in the entrance hall.

Parking
There are 3 parking areas near the event centre and a marshal will guide you to the correct place. Helpers will park in a separate car park near assembly. There are 2 electric charging point available. Please Note: the access road to the parking areas is width restricted (max 6’6’’or 2m). Please be respectful to other drivers.

Please Note: Any competitor under the age of 16 on the day of the event, must run Course 5 or 6. If they wish to run any other course they must be accompanied by an adult.

Entries
Enter via SiEntries here. Pre-entries close at 23:59 on Thursday 16th July
Adults (21 and over) £9, Juniors (20 and under) and Full-time Students £9.
If you are new to orienteering and would like to go round as a group or in a pair, just enter one person and purchase any additional maps that your group would like at £1 each.
There will be limited entry on the day, subject to map availability.

Dibber Hire
Dibber hire is available at no charge (but £30 if not returned). To pre-order a dibber leave the SI number blank during entry process and then collect it from Download on the day.

Timing
Registration: 10.00 – 12-00,
Start times are between 10.30 – 12.30.
Courses close at 2.00pm.

Start
The start is 400m from the event centre and will be taped. There will be a crossing marshal on the way. This will also be used to reach the finish There are no set start times so turn up when you are ready. It is a punching start.

Loose control descriptions will be available in the start lanes.

Finish
The finish is situated 100m from the event centre/download and will be taped. It is a punching finish. Follow tapes back to download in the event centre.

Punching
SportIdent will be used with punching start and finish. SIAC contactless punching will be possible on all controls on each course. Start and Finish must be punched.

Controls
Controls will be secured with gripples to trees, lamp posts and fences. Standard kites will be used.

Map
Mapped to ISSprOM 2019-2.  Updated 2026. All course maps will be printed on waterproof paper with descriptions on the front. Course 5 A4, Courses 1- 4 and 6 are A3.

Terrain
Mostly urban terrain with a small amount of parkland. There will be a need to go through the shopping area so care and courtesy will be the order of the day. There a few busy roads that will be crossed so please use common sense. Courses 5 & 6 (juniors) cross one main road at a compulsory marshalled crossing point.

We ask all competitors to be aware of all uncrossable walls/fences and out of bounds areas and please be aware of pedestrians and dog walkers.
