Bampton Common Long O (and not so Long-O)

Sunday 1st September 2024

Venue: Bampton Common, 10km south of Penrith. The car park and event centre are at High Howe Farm – this is the same place as 2021 an 2022, but the courses will use a different part of the Common. Start and Finish will be very close to the car park. Routegadget from 2022 is available here.

Terrain: Open fell with generally good runability, but with some marshy sections that can be hard going particularly after wet weather. It is mostly grassy but with patches of bracken (mapped) and low heather. There are sections of rock and contour detail.

Courses:
· Long 17.7km, 790m climb
· Medium 12.8km, 600m climb
· Short 7.6km, 320m climb
· Very Short 5.0km, 190m climb
· Super Short 3.7km, 130m climb

Map Scales: 1:12,500 for Long and Medium. 1:10,000 for Short and Very Short, 1:7500 for Super Short

Entries: Now open here. Entries close on Wed 29th August. Limited late entry may be available. Seniors (21 and over): £10, Juniors (20 and under): £5. Dibber hire available at no charge.

Start Times: 10:00 – 12:00, but those on the long course should start before 11:00 (unless they are very fast). Courses close at 3:30

Dogs: Allowed on leads in car park and on courses

Pairs: You are very welcome to run as a pair.

Refreshments: Free tea and cake at the finish for all competitors

Toilets: There will be a portaloo in the car park
