Border Liners have established two virtual orienteering courses (VOCs) at Rickerby Park in Carlisle. The 2 courses use checkpoints of the existing Permanent Orienteering Course (POC) in the park.
We have refreshed the courses for 2023, with the long course at 3.9km in length and 25 checkpoints, the short course 2.4km and 17 checkpoints. Each VOC is a pre-set course within Rickerby Park using the MapRun6. In the app to load a new event Select Event, then search for your choice of event under UK/Cumbria/North.
VOC course maps for printing at home can be downloaded free from GO Orienteering, British Orienteering’s permanent and virtual orienteering course web portal.
Rickerby Park has public parking only at it’s northern end off Brampton Road, nearest postcode CA3 9AD, what3words ///combining.blast.curry, OS grid reference NY410570. Unfortunately there are no toilet facilities at Rickerby Park.
It’s easy to get started. Getting set up with Maprun6 is not too complex, with some guidance from us here. Why not give it a try?
