The Compass Sport Cup and Trophy Final was held on Sunday 14th September at South Gare, an area of sand dunes in Teeside. BL achieved a magnificent second place in the small clubs competition and when you know that 52 clubs entered, with 21 making the final it seems even more of an achievement.

The whole day was great: a really good team atmosphere with everyone cheering club members as they battled their way along the strength-sapping sandy run-in; such a lovely contrast to the normal individual nature of most of our sport.

A selection of Border Liners on their way to the finish:

Here is Team Captain Andy’s summary:
“WOW!!!!!! Didn’t we do well. I had a hope we might make the top 3 but with 21 other small clubs that seemed a distant hope. There were some outstanding results but as usual it is the supporting runs that gave us the success. That includes the guys who finished as 3 and 4 in BL colours – other clubs lost points because of YOU!!
If you ran clean WOW! I think most folk struggled at some point but managed to hold it together.
BL have had a great year lots of great individual performances and amazing relay results and now our best ever CST result. WELL DONE – what a great club.”
In the large clubs competition it was good to see our neighbours WCOC coming third – well done to them.
