From 2025, following a suggestion from BL, Very Short Green (VSG) courses will be included in the Cumbrian Galoppen. This means that VSG will have the same status as all the other courses, with league tables compiled and series winners announced. Also, competitors on VSG will count towards the Borrowdale Trophy, the inter-club competition.
While all the clubs are going to do their very best to put on VSG courses at Galoppen events, it has to be recognised that there are a few Cumbrian areas where planning a VSG course is not realistic, either because there is no physically easy but technically hard terrain or because there is such a long and/or steep walk to the start that no VSG competitors would want to do it.
The other good news for 2025 is that there will be (small) prizes for all Galoppen winners – the top junior man, junior woman, senior man and senior woman on each course. This used to happen but sadly stopped due to lack of sponsorship.

Here is the provisional event schedule for next year.
